A few of our Adventures...

Tenting is certainly a popular way to enjoy the outdoors and to learn the basics of camping. A tenter can get to a lot of places I can't get to in my MotorHome. But, I get around that by towing a Jeep now. My wife and her two children are enjoying tenting in this picture. |

I couldn't find a picture of the first pickup and camper I had, the one I mentioned on the Background page. This is a picture of the second pickup I bought while in Alaska, a 1971 Ford F-250 Camper Special, with the Lark camper on it. I managed to put around 20,000 miles on it in the two years I had it through business and camping. Got the typical 8 mpg and a lot of engine problems. This picture is on the "new" road between Fairbanks and Anchorage close to McKinley Park. |

This is a picture of the first new pickup and camper I owned, a 1973 Ford F-350 crew-cab carrying an eleven foot Amerigo camper with "snap n nap". That means the back pushes out and makes into a bed---a place for Jr. to sleep. I kept that outfit for 14 years, two engines, and 90,000 miles. Got the typical 8 mpg. This picture is somewhere along the Alaska highway. |

I have arrived, my first MotorHome! It was a 1983, 27 foot Winnebago Brave with a 6.2 liter diesel engine. Had 26,000 miles on it when I bought it and 67,000 when I sold it to a guy who wanted to vacation in it to Alaska. It had a tough drive train and was a pretty good MotorHome. But, the roof leaked a lot. The thing got over 11 mpg and, I ran it pretty hard. This picture is in a campground in West Yellowstone, MT. |

Bought this Monaco Premier 36 foot diesel pusher while living in Florida. Owning this MotorHome was probably my greatest learning experience in the MotorHome world. Hearing of my experiences with this one could possibly save you a few dollars and lots of hardships, frustration, and disappointment. Remember, once you buy one, it's yours, along with all the problems. It had 36,000 miles on it when I bought it and I managed it to 77,000 before I sold it. This picture was taken in California. |

What a ride! This is the one I own now and am proud of it. Lots of horsepower and all that goes with that. Over the past year I've put 14,000 miles on it. I tow a Jeep and if I drive it sanely (60) it will get over 11mpg. At 70 mph it will get 10 mpg. Year 2000 update: And now with the Banks Stinger we've added about 50 HP to it. WOW!! I can take most hills/mountains in one gear higher than before. The mileage is about the same but, I haven't stopped playing with it yet. When I do I'll most likely see better mileage. |
