So do I hear that diesels are the way to go here or what. I can't seem to get anyone who knows if the costs justify one or it is just the in thing to do.

Hey jeff have you priced diesel lately it is more than gas. As for which one,gas or diesel. It is up to you. We have a gas motorhome. You will probably never wear out either. Look at the mileage on any motorhome you find .90% will have less than 60,000 miles on them no matter what year they are.If you are going to do a lot of pulling of trailers with it then you need to buy a diesel. WE pull a 24' trailer with ours. it has a 454 engine .On our first trip we went to vegas, grand canyon and phenix. we used a total of 1and a half quarts of oil. The worst thing you can do is not use it enough. That is what costs you money . Things work better if they are used frequently.

Look at how much you drive. Take those miles and see if the gas or diesel is more economical. The price of fuel and mileage is the part you want to look at.A lot of naysayers take this approach to justify a gas coach. The only smart way to have a motor home is with a diesel. Just makes sense. And is probably safer on the road.
