Hello
We want to buy a 21-23feet. We looked at several makes until now including camper vans. We are getting confuse!!! We like the Chinook 21' Concourse but they are more expensive then other make of the same size. Are we paying for the name or the quality? Someone told us that Dutchman was doing one with have a expending room,in the 23feet range. I cannot find it? Are they to heavy for the engine? I would like to hear from someone who own one of these.

My husband and I have had 4 motor homes and a tent trailer. The smallest one we had was a 21' Class C and we had 3 small children and went constantly in it. The boys got bigger and so we went to a 27' Class C and we also used it less but still to good use. We then bought a 32' Class A - the boys were gone and we went even less because you HAD to tow UNLESS you went and just camped (vs touring) and so we went even less. We now have a 30' Class C and we used it once a year to camp for a couple of weeks. We just completed a 3-week tour of the southwest without a tow and it was a real pain. Finally rented a car for 3 days. I am now looking for a Class B - no kids to go with us just my husband and I and he has arthritis in his feet and I have in my back so what we want is just something to take us touring and have the convenience of parking where we want. RVers have to admit that 90% of the stuff they take is unnecessary but take "stuff" anyway just cause there is room. You have to survey what you want to do with your RV. Make a list of what you like to do. Do you like to tow?? If you get anything bigger than a 22-24 foot, you almost need to tow. Find someone who has Rved for a long time and have them go with you and look at a lot of types and point out those things that they don't like (cause all RVs look great when you walk into them and you don't see the problems you might run into (no counter space for cooking, not enough closet space, etc.). Some friends of our wanted a LOT of closet space because they square danced and need space to hang those clothes. A couple I met who LOVE their Class B also like to backpack so they pack their RV as if they are going backpackiing and just take the essentials and so a Class B (usually 20' or less) works just fine for them. A slide out on a Class C or A is absolutely a great idea. It really adds to the room of the RV no matter if 24' or 40'. I have a lot of pros and cons about RVs if you want to contact me, will be glad to share. Remember it will ALWAYS be a point of compromise whatever you chose.

What ever you do do not buy anything less than a class C. You will be very unhappy. You should also buy one that has a slide out . You will not regret it . I don't know if you have kids or not. If you do forget the entertainment center on the class C that goes in the upper bunk. With the kids you will be spending more time out of it than what you will inside . It is also nice to be able to get up in the morning and be able to sit at the kitchen table without having to move someone who is sleeping there and then having to setv it up .

I am realtively new at this but my son has a 22 foot 1998 Winnebago Itasca Spirit. He has used it for several trips and I have used it once for a short four day excursion. The coach is built on a Ford chassis with a Triton V-10 engine . We both like the camper and think the engine has plenty of power for the weight. You can get information on this coach including floor plans at the Winnebago web site.

I would check the Laze Daze motor homes and there are a couple made in Canada that I hear are good.
