Yes it does have better anti wear performance, as well as higher temperature protection. Heat is the biggest destroyer of machinery and motorhomes certainly have problems with unwanted heat. If I had fifty vehicles and one of them was an RV and I could only use synthetic oil in one of them, guess which one it would be? Concerning your question about rearends, some of the manufactures of rearends triple the warranty if synthetics are used.
The only reason not to use a synthetic lubricant is if it can't be used economically for most vehicles, but in an RV insurance is more important than simple oil change economics.
The Amsoil synthetics can be used economically because they are designed for longer service life so you can get your money out of them.
