Dear Geroge:

I just got home and reviewed the info you sent me on Amsoil for my motorhome. I am convinced that I am going to purchase from you;
consequently, I am sold on the product but I do have a couple of questions about which I would like some very honest answers.

1. I have talked with several folks in my Good Sam contacts about
Amsoil and all are very strongly supportive of the product; however, it
seems as though the recommendations for the type/weight of oil varies so much
from one Amsoil dealer to another. For example, the man from whom I
purchased the motorhome was recommended to use 20-50 weight in the Ford 460
engine and the same in the Generac 5.5 generator. Another dealer recommended
5-30 and still another recommended something else. I talked with the Ford
garage and told them about the 20-50 and they threw up their arms; they
recommended 10-30. My personal preference is 15-40! My driving will be
nearly 100 % in the South year round. I doubt that the motorhome will ever
be in the North in the Winter. Can you elaborate on this wide variance of
opinions. And, too, does Amsoil make a 15-40 in 100$ Synthetic oil?
2. What is the difference between 2000 Synthetic and XL 7500 synthetic?
Which can I use?
3. With a synthetic, is the time factor important. In other words, I
will not drive the amount of miles you advertixe for an oil change. Should
the oil be changed then at least every 12 months.
4. Are the prices in the book you sent the preferred prices or the
regular prices.
Thank you so very much, George.

Thanks for getting back with me with these very good questions. One problem with Amsoil is they have so many choices of oil that is makes it difficult sometime on what to use. If you owners manual calls for a 10w 30 then by all means use it. It doesn't hurt to go to a higher viscosity such as a 15w 40 if you feel more comfortable. The 30 weight recommendation from the manufacture is made with the idea that it is in a pickup or car, not in an RV that is nearly run in an overloaded heavy duty work load constantly.

Yes the 15w 40 is a full synthetic and the difference between the series 2,000 and the XL is the base stock synthetics being used. All of our oils are designed for different service intervals. It is either mileage or one year which ever comes first, so the maximum service life, unless you are
monitoring the oil through oil analysis, is one year. Also the prices that are in the catalog I sent you are full retail prices, not dealer prices, which are generally 25% lower. Let me know if you have more questions.
