Have you ever thought about how much ambient temperature (road heat) affects the operating temp of your transmission and even your motor? I was driving my coach and hit some light rain and noticed that my tranny temp gauge dropped about 20 degrees and then when I hit dry pavement again, it swung back up to normal temperature. I was on flat highway and the outside temp was only in the low eighties. If the road temperature can make it fluxuate this much, think what it does when you are driving in 90 degree heat (road temp might be as high as 115 degrees or more) and going up a mountain grade.

I don't worry about temperatures that much because I have my coach fully converted to synthetics, which can handle higher temperatures, as well as keep the temperatures a little lower to begin with.

For those of you that are still using conventional fluids in an RV, the repair people really like you.
